PLANNING A WEB SITE
- Define the Audience
- Create a purpose statement - "what the site will do."
- The subject area
- Audience ID
- Level of detail to present
- Users expected benefit or response
- Objective Statement - "Info that will do it."
- Clarify specific outcomes and info that implement the "purpose"
- Plan for the possibilities of changes and expansion.
- Domain Info - Info and knowledge of the subject area on & offline.
- Define domain info necessary
- Plan for acquisition of info.
- Plan to update & maintain info.
- Web Specification - Refinement of Objective statement.
(More specific adding layer of constraints or other requirements.)
- Acts as a guide book for designers & implementers who create the files of the site.
- Completely ID all resources - Links, Forms, Imaps, & Sound.
- State limits of the site. (Frames? Forms? Graphics?)
- Anticipate site presentation.
- Generate possibilities for presentation
- Example pages, Imaps, forms...
- Plan work necessary to implement site according to specs.
- Create & Maintain pool of generic components (Layouts, forms, style sheets, templates.)
- Create mockup of site based on initial specs (quick from generic components, will offer prototype to use w/process.)
